Deacon Reginald (Reggie) J. Seymour, Sr. is married to his wife Gerry for 20 years, and they have 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Deacon Reggie was born in New Orleans, matriculated through the public school systems, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Southern University in New Orleans. Deacon Reggie serviced in the U. S. Army and is a Viet Nam veteran.
In 2006, after over 34 years in local and federal law enforcement, Deacon Reggie retired from the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as the Assistant Special in Charge (ASAC) New Orleans.
In 2001, Deacon Reggie was ordained a Permanent Deacon and assigned to the Church of the Epiphany in New Orleans, and held that assignment until Epiphany parish was closed due to Hurricane Katrina, and merged with Corpus Christi Parish in 2006. In 2008, Deacon Reggie was reassigned to St. Genevieve.
Since his ordination, Deacon Reggie has held numerous other assignments and has been involved in other ministries throughout the Archdioceses of New Orleans. In 2006, he was hired as the Co-Director of Stella Maris Seafarers Ministry, and was the Port Chaplain for the Port of New Orleans and the Port Authority Harbor Police Department. Deacon Reggie is a certified International Maritime Chaplain and Ship Welfare visitor course instructor.
Deacon Reggie has worked with the Office of Worship as an instructor for the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Lectors workshop, and has severed as an advisor on the Advisory Board for Catholic Men Spirituality, Office of Racial Harmony and the Office of Black Catholic Ministries. For six years he served as the chairperson for the OBCM Men Spirituality conference. Deacon Reggie serves as an archdiocesan Master of Ceremonies.
